Multi award-winning composer Matt Herbst is rapidly carving out a name for himself in the Hollywood film music landscape. His knack for capturing the essence of a film through his unique musical sensibility has the filmmaking community listening up and taking notice. His musical style has drawn several favorable comparisons to Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, and Christopher Young. His extensive scoring experience has

led him to the best recording stages in Hollywood including Capitol Records and Warner Brothers.
In addition to his work in film, he has written music for such brands as Samsung and Durex.


Mr. Herbst studied film scoring at the University of Southern California's world famous Scoring for Motion Pictures and Televisionprogram where he learned the techniques and processes of modern film music. While there he studied and worked closely with James Newton Howard (The Sixth Sense, The Dark Knight), John Frizzell (The Reaping), and Christopher Young (The Grudge, Spiderman 3), mastering all aspects of today's Hollywood sound. Upon graduating, he worked behind the musical scenes on such hit films as the drama Sleepwalking and the thriller The Uninvited. While his talent allows him to write music in virtually every genre, he has a particular flair for action and sci-fi thrillers, dramas, and comedies. Mr. Herbst's personal policy of providing uncompromising musical excellence to each project he works on has garnered him several honors including the prestigious BMI Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film Scoring. Mr. Herbst is a distinguished member of ASCAP and works from his studio in Los Angeles, CA.
